In Phase I, we created a headquarters ten times larger than GMi‘s former facility. The program includes a two-story front office for operations connected to a storage warehouse, light manufacturing facility, and training center. Phase II consisted of three office buildings adjacent to the main building to serve additional tenants.
Although the two were permitted separately, the shell and office finish-out construction were strongly integrated, providing a seamless construction work transition from the exterior to the interior. Additionally, constant lines of communication between GMi, the general contractor, and our team of architects were imperative to meet important target dates for ordering materials so they could arrive promptly.
Stand out features:
- Grand lobby with stair & plinth-bench seating,
- Master Break Room connecting to Mezzanine Patio with Grand Canopy
- Private Gym
- Weld Room
- Large Training Center
GMi is pleased to stretch out its operations since its older facility did not fit its needs. As architects, we are proud of the natural and open space we’ve created for them. Also, the GMi complex exterior, thoughtfully cladded in limestone and ACM panel, is a refreshing and inviting presence among the various warehouses within its industrial park.
We want to give a special thank you to Mikal Darden and Chris Bowles at GMi, as well as the General Contractors, Jeremy Hunt and Phillip McDavid from Hage Construction, Jason Owens and Shane Walker from Hart Gaugler, Don Ellion and Joshua Gilbreath from Schmidt & Stacy, Clay Cristy and Curtis Peters from Clay Moore Engineering who worked on Civil, and John Murphy from Site Integration Studio who did the landscaping.
Thank you to our architects at O’Brien Architects: David Culbertson, Ashley Acuff, Billy Batac, Caitlin Huston, our designer Amador Saucedo, and interior designer Vania Franco.
