Stillwater Capital, an acclaimed private real estate company known for its unique portfolio spanning infill multifamily communities, mixed-use properties, build-to-suit properties, and luxurious single-family homes, partnered with O’Brien Architects for their Haggard Farms development. Located on an expansive 142-acre plot on Spring Creek Parkway in Plano, TX, just east of the Dallas North Tollway, this mixed-use project will encompass office, retail, hotel, and residential spaces.
We were entrusted with the design of the multifamily segment of the development. The main challenge was integrating a design that acknowledged the Haggard Family’s legacy and vision while introducing contemporary aesthetics. By incorporating the Texas hill country vernacular as the primary design language, the resulting structures resonate with familiarity and approachability, echoing the history of the farmland.
Haggard Farms stands out not only due to its sheer size but also because of its profound historical roots. Previously owned by the pioneering Haggard family, who have been foundational figures in Collin County since 1856, the property pays homage to a legacy deeply entrenched in Plano’s history. Landmarks such as the Haggard Farm, Haggard Middle School, and Haggard Park exemplify the enduring influence of the Haggard family.
This project’s numerous victories were the seamless collaboration and unwavering communication throughout the design process. It’s a monumental honor for O’Brien Architects to be instrumental in delivering this legacy project to both the esteemed Haggard Family and the innovative Stillwater Capital.
On behalf of the entire team at O’Brien Architects, including our dedicated team members David Borja, Jasmine Chavez, and Johan Venter, we express our most profound appreciation to the Haggard Family and Stillwater Capital. We’ve transformed a vision with our esteemed partners into a legacy project that seamlessly melds history, community, and architectural excellence. Here’s to shaping spaces that resonate with the past, present, and future.
