First Co., an industry leader in HVAC manufacturing, testing, and engineering, collaborated with O’Brien Architects with a vision to seamlessly connect their existing infrastructure with a new avant-garde facility. The goal is a cohesive space that embodies professionalism, attracting the industry’s top talents and bolstering employee retention.
Challenges were inherent, notably the site’s unique shape necessitating a curved building design. But, with innovation, O’Brien addressed structural complications and harmoniously blended testing facilities with office spaces. Strategic architectural choices, such as full glass doors and windows, spotlighted First Co’s work, transforming areas to be bright and harmonious, emphasizing function and design.
Security was balanced with aesthetics, exemplified by the grand stair at the entry. Through ingenious design adjustments, the team ensured a secure yet open ambiance. Unique ceiling features introduced a touch of sophistication, doubling as branding avenues, particularly in areas with significant client footfalls.
The success of this ambitious project was a collaborative effort. Partners like Spring Valley Construction Company, Salas O’Brien, and Hart Gaugler played pivotal roles, with standout contributions from O’Brien team members Jourdan Whatley RID, IIDA, NCIDQ, Daniel Hernandez, David Culbertson AIA, and Ashley Acuff RID, IIDA.
With this state-of-the-art facility, First Co is poised not just to compete with industry titans like Trane and Hajoca but to redefine standards in HVAC facilities, underlining the power of visionary architecture in shaping industry futures.
